Mid Coast Solid Waste is a pay-as-you-throw facility. Most of our variable, volume based costs are therefore paid by each generator as you enter the facility rather than subsidized completely through our tax base. In this way, each household only pays for what they use given the opportunities to reduce and recycle as much as possible. Household trash typically arrives in our 30 gallon yellow permit bags which are part of our Pay-As-You-Throw (P.A.Y.T.) program. Commercial loads typically go over our scales and are charged per ton.
